On the 29th March the Supreme Origins held the official launch for the Sheffield Carnival of 2018, which was held at the Virgin Money Lounge Sheffield.
Guests were welcomed by the backdrop of the familiar toe tapping sounds of Carnival music, with a beautiful array of colourful headpieces and costumes designed by amazing carnival costume designer Clary Salandy.
The launch was attended by The Lord Mayor of Sheffield Councillor Anne Murphy, who immediately got into the Carnival spirit and happily tried on some of the vibrant headpieces.
An opening speech was given by our patron Uriah Rennie, followed by a few words from The Lord Mayor. Later on speeches from the Supreme Origins team Jesrine Clarke-Darrington, Andrea Risdon and Leroy Whenham spoke about the past, where we are at present, and plans for the future. Clary Salandy, Sheffield Carnival’s Artistic Director gave some inspiring words.
Guests were entertained by a performance from Medley and dancers from Sarah Hobson Entertainment danced around the audience wearing fire inspired costumes. A good time was had by all.
